Describing a business in terms of processes and systems isn’t technically hard. But it’s incredibly time-consuming—especially for large businesses with various departments and interconnected tasks. Production, marketing, HR, logistics—all these need to align as efficiently as possible to avoid information loss, delays, and friction. Why?

The problem with all of us is that, even knowing the value of something, we often do the exact opposite. Take healthy living as an example. Everyone agrees it’s important. Vital, even—for yourself, first and foremost. And everyone says the right things. But in reality?

Our entire life is made up of processes. Every time we go grocery shopping, head to work, drop kids off at school, or do anything we consider routine, we unknowingly activate a process—a fixed sequence of actions.

One of the main reasons people shy away from entrepreneurship is the belief that it’s just too hard. On the flip side, an even larger group of people think it’s a piece of cake.

We live in a society. Surrounded by other people. Most of humanity probably lives in some form of organized civilization. The foundation of any society, even the most primitive, is the presence of rules and laws. Written, unwritten—it doesn’t really matter.

Psychologists describe the crises people face throughout life. Midlife crisis, other joys. But I’m not about to discuss the crises themselves or their origins. I’m want to talk about what comes with them—questions. Questions about your purpose, your life, your impact, why any of it matters, and so on. Sure, some people never bother with this stuff—“What questions? We’re alive, aren’t we? What more do you need?”

Have you ever faced a decision that could change your entire life? Sooner or later, everyone hits that point. And this choice could change not just your life but those closest to you.

Today’s story may be a bit unusual. Or maybe not—still deciding, haha. Consider this letter a form of intellectual exhibitionism (yep, I actually wrote that) or just some thoughts out loud.

Business is tough. Insanely tough. It’s stress. It’s responsibility. It’s fear of failure. It’s endless doubt. It’s sleepless nights. It’s constant anxiety.

— Why am I not getting anything done? Because you’re bouncing from one thing to another. No focus. And keep forgetting what you wanted in the first place. Why? No plan. — But why plan if nothing goes according to plan?

I confess, it pisses me off when “business gurus” make loud, absolute statements. It’s clear why they do it—to stir up the crowd. Stirring up crap is the best way to grab attention.

What inspired me to write this were memories of everything I’ve been through in my entrepreneurial career. Especially the painful moments involving relationships with people. Often, those closest to me.
